A 17-day trip through Chile - discover this versatile country from the Atacama desert in the north to the southernmost Patagonia. The tour will start in the Andean metropolis of Santiago de Chile and then to know the port city of Valparaiso; You will end up with a visit to the Torres del Paine National Park on a 3-day trek.
The ideal travel time to visit Patagonia will be the southern summer, from October to April; From January to February is the high season. The rest of Chile can be visited all year round.

    Arrival in Santiago de Chile

    Overnight: Santiago de Chile
    At the airport, you will be expected by your English-speaking guide who will take you to your hotel. After checking in, you will discover the sights of Santiago by taking a city tour, which will include the Presidential Palace, the Plaza de Armas, the cathedral and the San Cristobal Hill, from where you will have a nice view of the entire city and of the Andean peaks. You will also visit the Mercado Central (central market) with its rich selection of fresh fish and seafood. Here we will have a great tip for your optional lunch in a small typical restaurant.
    In addition, we will be pleased to provide you with a detailed briefing (in English), where we will discuss the trip with you again and clarify the last questions.

    Valparaiso

    Overnight: Santiago de Chile
    Today you will visit Valparaíso, the most important port city in Central Chile. Valparaíso is like a natural amphitheater right on the Pacific and is famous for the colorful houses, which are adventurously built on the numerous hills surrounding the city. You will first visit "La Sebastiana", the house of the Nobel Prize Pablo Neruda, which is now open as a museum for visitors. Afterwards you will start your tour through the colorful streets of the harbor city, whose center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and surely will be enchanted by its unique flair. Of course, a ride with the typical cableways of the city is unmissable. Before returning to Santiago, you will go on a boat trip of the port so to get a completely different view of the city.

    Moon and Death Valley in the Atacama Desert

    Overnight: San Pedro de Atacama
    In the morning, you will take a private transfer to the airport to check in for your flight to Calama. Once there, you will be greeted by your guide and continue through the desert to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. You will have time to rest and lunch at your hotel before visiting the Moon valley and the Death Valley in the afternoon, two magical places where you will also enjoy a spectacular sunset over the dunes and the huge volcanoes in the background.

    Geysirs El Tatio

    Overnight: San Pedro de Atacama
    Today you will travel to El Tatio's geysers very early. Due to the morning air pressure fluctuations one can see these geysers in action best on early mornings, at sunrise. You will take breakfast directly at the geysers and happily watch the nature spectacle from a close up. There is also the possibility to take a relaxing bath in the hot thermal water. Before you leave the Highlands, you will visit the typical Andean village of Machuca, where you will meet the inhabitants of the High Plains.
    The afternoon is at leisure. To stroll around the market or to visit the ruins of an ancient fortress of the Atacama culture.
    Optionally you can participate in the evening on a clear sky, in a star observation (available depending on the moon phase and weather conditions) - the Atacama Desert offers one of the most beautiful starred skies in the world!

    Highland Lagoons and Salt Flat

    Overnight: San Pedro de Atacama
    Today you will visit the National Park "Los Flamencos", with its breathtaking landscapes of lagoons and volcanoes. In addition, you will surely get some deserts animals like lamas, flamingos or alpacas in front of the lens of your camera. We continue to Salar De Atacama, the largest salt lake of Chile and the third largest in the world.     Return to Santiago and visit the vineyard

    Overnight: Santiago de Chile
    Today you will return to Calama, where you will fly back to Santiago. Once there you will be picked up and taken to the hotel. In the afternoon, a visit to a winery is on the agenda - because no trip to Chile would be complete without getting to know one of the numerous wine-growing areas around Santiago! During the guided tour, you will learn a lot about the cultivation and the production of the wine, which you will try by taking a small wine tasting course!

    Free Day - Night Bus to Pucon

    Today will be a free day to get to know the capital of the country. Numerous museums are waiting for your visit, and the many parks invite you to relax!
    Optionally you can book, for example, a one-day off-road tour. In this unique adventure, you will experience the majesty of the Andes in the nearby Maipo Canyon: you will be taken to the Andean peaks at approximately 3,000m and will almost reach the border with Argentina. Explore the area on a small hike before enjoying a delicious "Asado" (barbecue) in the middle of the wilderness and finally relax at the thermal baths.
    In the late evening, once in Santiago, you will take a comfortable night bus to Pucón in the south.

    Pucón - Puerto Varas

    From Pucon you will continue through the lakes region to Puerto Varas. The city is located directly on the beautiful Llanquihue Lake with the volcano Osorno in the background. In the afternoon, you will drive to the National Park Vicente Perez Rosalez and visit the impressive rapids of "Saltos Del Petrohue" and the lake of "Todos los Santos".

    National Park Torres del Paine - Pehoe-Lake

    Overnight: Torres del Paine
    Today you will start your adventure at the Torres del Paine National Park! A bus will you from Puerto Natales to the park. With a bit of luck, the weather will allow impressive views of the Paine massif along the way. In the Pudeto sector, you will take a catamaran across the Lake Pehoe. At the other end, the Refugio Paine Grande awaits you. In the afternoon, you can make a small hike to the viewpoint of the Gray Glacier.

    National Park Torres del Paine

    Overnight: Torres del Paine
    Your first real trekking day is coming! In about 2.5 hours, you will reach the campsite Italiano. From here, you can either take a detour to the valley of Frances, where you will have a great panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and glacier which bears the same name, or you can go on for about 2.5 hours to the "Los Cuernos" hut, To eat and sleep for the night.

    Overnight: Torres del Paine
    A hike of about 6 hours will take you along the Nordenskjöld Lake to your destination for today, the hut called: "Chileno". You will then come closer to the famous towers, which give the park its name!

    National Park Torres del Paine - Puerto Natales

    Overnight: Puerto Natales
    Today it is worth getting up very early in the morning! You may leave your luggage at the accommodation, to arrive earlier at the Torres Del Paine.
    You will have to walk half an hour above a gravel field, but the effort is worthwhile for the unique sight of the huge granite needles in the light of the rising sun!
    On the way back, you will pick up your luggage and go back to the "Las Torres" hut at about one and a half hours away. From there you will take the bus back to Puerto Natales.

    Return to Santiago via Punta Arenas

    Take the bus back to the airport in Punta Arenas and from there to Santiago.
    Do not end your journey here! For example, there is an extension to El Calafate - easy to reach from Puerto Natales this is the starting point for excursions to the famous glacier Perito Moreno. From here, you can quickly reach El Chalten, the trekking mecca at Fitz Roy!
    Alternatively, visit the mysterious world famous Moai monoliths’ on the Easter Island in the middle of the Pacific!
